About

Vanessa M. Buenger is an experienced brand, marketing, and content strategist who collaborates with executives and their teams to develop and grow their brands through meaningful storytelling, experiences, and partnerships. She is also committed to mentoring entry- to mid-level creatives to cultivate talent and inspire future leaders.

Vanessa is the Senior Director of Partnerships & Growth for The Female Quotient, the business of equality®, where she leads brand strategy and creative direction to drive partnerships. She joined that team after a year of leading content, community, and marketing for Athleta’s digital well-being platform, AthletaWell. Prior to Athleta, Vanessa led marketing for event production firm, Four Leaf Productions, and Chicago Ideas, a nonprofit platform for progress that democratizes idea-sharing through equitable and affordable experiences and content. Previously, she was the first hire for New York-based media startup Love Stories TV, joining the founder and CEO as the Head of Growth Marketing to build the platform and its community from the ground up. Vanessa was also a key member of the content team for first-of-its-kind beauty subscription and retailer Birchbox, where she managed and helped build a digital community of more than three million.

Whether it’s with a startup company filling a void in the consumer's experience, corporate brands looking to disrupt in an already-established space, or a nonprofit organization building a business based on impact, Vanessa has learned one essential lesson through this journey: human connection—digitally, experientially, or otherwise—is the true heartbeat of any brand strategy.

Vanessa is a graduate of Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Anthony, and their dog, Porgy.
